Although I don't wear them very often, I really love long witchy/bohemian skirts. <3

This outfit was just thrown together on the fly, before going with Gary, his mom, and grandmother [and her two dogs] on a hike yesterday. It's a far cry from hiking gear, but I didn't know I was going until the last minute. LOL Spontaneity is the spice of life, right?

Bazinga! t-shirt - The Big Bang Theory | shorts - No Boundaries
socks - Soxxy Air | shoes - Sketchers | sunglasses - Betsey Johnson

Yesterday Gary and I went on a long hike [about 17 miles overall] to Newtown Battlefield State Park, founded to commemorate the Battle of Newtown [1779], in the American Revolutionary War.

Here I am, standing next to Sullivan's Monument, which is HUGE

What better way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend than to hike and grill veggie burgers at a historical site?

Yum!

Outfit + Easy T-Shirt DIY

What I'm wearing:
hoodie - Royal Bones | t-shirt - The Chariot + DIY
jeans - Dickies | sunglasses - Betsey Johnson
flipflops - Teva | beanie - unknown | wrist cuff - unknown

I've had this t-shirt for 6-8 years now, I think. When old band tees (I have a LOT of them) start getting ragged, I usually deconstruct them in a way that fixes the problem areas, or create something entirely new.

The easiest and most used t-shirt mod I do is simply trimming the hems off

The details:

I like to cut a wide neckline (but not too wide, you'll stretch it later) so the t-shirt hangs off one shoulder. Then I trim off the hems on the sleeves, and sometimes the bottom. Don't obsess over your cutting too much- it'll even out later.

Then you'll want to stretch the material around the edges you just cut.
Do it a few times so it rolls up a bit. Easy!

I Love Betsey Johnson Sunglasses!

I found these Betsey Johnson sunglasses a while back, at Burlington Coat Factory, for just $10 (originally $40). I love them! They're so fun to wear!

I'm not that girl who wears pink or yellow, or anything other than black, on a regular basis, and these aren't like anything I have in my closet. But they go great with EVERYTHING

I think they're extra-special because, since I have a round face, I generally look terrible in rounded glasses. These are different, and I'm not sure why exactly, but they look good and I love them. I can't help but smile when I put them on.

I tried on several pairs of Betsey Johnson sunglasses in the store before settling on these, actually. They were all great, and it was difficult to choose, but I decided on these for the fact that they were so different from the other sunglasses in my collection. I've never owned anything like these.

It's important to branch out and try something new every now and then. You don't always know what you like until you try it. And it's always good to keep things fresh and interesting.

I really appreciate a great pair of shades. They can be fun, serious, whatever! They add a little extra flair to every outfit, and while you're wearing them, the one thing people look at most when talking to you. Eyewear really is a big part of your look, so have fun and experiment!

What do you like to mask your eyes with?

Outfit: Physical Fitness, Or Lack Thereof

Today Gary and I took the long way (a.k.a. the local fitness trail) to the grocery store...

What I'm wearing:
hoodie - Dr. Who | jeans - Dickies | beanie - unknown
sunglasses - Betsey Johnson | flipflops - Teva

HTC One for Boost Mobile
auto settings, no filters

I don't mind hiking in flipflops, honestly, as long as they're comfortable. I like the free feeling. I've had my Teva Mush Adaptos for well over a year now, and had to have put at least 150 miles on them... No joke. They've held up incredibly well, and I really love them.

Now that it's growing warmer again, I'm trying to get outside regularly and get back in shape. I'm not much of a runner, but I love to go out walking with friends. I especially like finding new things to climb on. It's the kid in me, I guess. There are some things you just never grow out of.

I've mentioned it before- I have a lot of excess energy I need to burn off on a regular basis. I can't even begin to understand how people can sit around all the time. And really, why would you want to sit on your ass all the time anyway? There are so many awesome things you can be doing at any given moment.

Stop being lazy, people.
Go out and have some FUN!
